Creek Minis are one of my favorite ways to photograph families—they’re fun, casual, and full of movement and joy. But when water is involved, picking the right outfit can feel a little tricky!
Here’s a quick guide to help you feel confident and carefree walking into your session:
1. Go Light + Flowy
Choose fabrics that breathe and move—think linen, cotton, or soft knits. Flowing dresses or relaxed-fit tops add a sense of movement and work beautifully with the setting.
2. Barefoot is Best
No need for fancy shoes—most families go barefoot, and it adds to the natural, playful vibe. Just make sure little ones can safely walk on uneven ground.
3. Stick to Nature-Inspired Colors
Earthy tones, soft blues, muted greens, creams, and warm neutrals look stunning against the creek backdrop. Avoid neon or logos so the focus stays on your connection.
4. Dress for Comfort
You might be kneeling on rocks, carrying a kiddo, or wading a bit in the water—so pick outfits that let you move with ease. Comfort = confidence on camera!
5. Add Texture, Not Patterns
Think gauze, lace, waffle knits, or denim for interest. If you’re going to use patterns, keep them subtle and stick to one per outfit group.
Bonus Tip: Bring a towel and a change of clothes for the kids—just in case your little adventurers go full splash mode (which we love around here!).
Still not sure what to wear?
