Hey there, friends!

As a photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to capture hundreds of beautiful moments, and there’s something truly magical about newborn and milestone sessions that keeps me coming back for more. They’re the heart and soul of why I got into photography—and not just because I love snapping pictures, but because I get to capture life’s most precious memories.

You see, my love for newborns and milestones runs deep. My mom was the one who handed me the camera and inspired my photography journey. She picked up her camera to capture every moment of my late nephew’s life, and I followed in her footsteps, wanting to preserve those tiny, fleeting moments for other families, just as she had for us.

So, let me tell you why I love these sessions so much and share a few sweet past examples that have made my heart swell.

1. Capturing the First Moments: The Newborn Sessions

There is nothing more magical than those first few days of life. The soft, tiny features, the perfect little fingers and toes, and the fresh newness of a baby experiencing the world for the first time—every tiny detail is worth capturing. Newborn sessions hold a special place in my heart because they remind me of the beauty of life’s beginnings.

It’s an honor to be able to capture that raw emotion for families, whether it’s a peaceful sleeping shot, those sweet yawns, or the way a parent gazes lovingly at their newborn. And let me tell you, I’m often called the "baby whisperer" for a reason! I’ve learned the art of calming and soothing newborns to get the best shots—after all, these early moments pass so quickly.

Sweet Example:

I recently worked with a new mom and dad who were overjoyed to meet their baby girl. We spent the session capturing those delicate moments—her soft curls, tiny hands wrapped around her mom’s finger, and the peaceful sleep that only newborns know. By the end of the session, we had a set of images that will forever remind them of their daughter’s very first days in this world.

2. Milestone Moments: Growing Up Too Fast

As much as I love the tender quiet of a newborn session, milestone moments are right up there with them. From first birthdays to sitting up, standing, and walking, each milestone marks such a big change. These moments are filled with joy and pride for parents, and I love being there to help document that growth.

I adore seeing families return for these sessions, as it feels like a celebration of not only their child’s development but their journey as parents. I’m able to capture their child’s personality and spark, which can be so much fun—especially as they reach those big milestones like their first birthday cake smash!

Sweet Example:

I’ve had the privilege of capturing so many first birthdays, but one that stands out was of a little boy who was a total bundle of energy. We did a cake smash session, and when he dove into his cake, his expression was pure delight! The photos from that session are full of giggles, frosting-covered faces, and big smiles—mom and dad still look back at them with joy every time.

3. Why These Sessions Matter

Newborn and milestone sessions are more than just pretty pictures—they’re timeless treasures. These images allow you to remember the little moments, the tiny details, and the love that surrounds your family during these pivotal times. When you look back years from now, you’ll see not only how much your child has grown but also the warmth, emotion, and joy that filled your life during those early years.

It’s these moments that I’m so passionate about preserving. Photography is my way of helping you freeze time, so you can cherish those memories forever.

Wrapping Up: Why I Do What I Do

I can honestly say that capturing newborn and milestone sessions is the heart of why I became a photographer. My journey started with my mom, and it’s now come full circle, allowing me to work with families like yours. Whether it’s the peacefulness of a newborn or the joy of a child reaching another milestone, I’m grateful to be the one who helps you remember those moments forever.

If you’re expecting a little one or your baby is about to reach a big milestone, I’d love to be there to capture it. Feel free to reach out, and let’s make some beautiful memories together.

Stay tuned for next month’s posts, where I’ll dive into our amazing family vacation!

Until then,
