Hey there, friends!
Today, I’m giving you a sneak peek into my studio space and sharing some of my favorite props, backdrops, and go-to tools that make every session unique, fun, and full of personality. Whether you're coming in for a newborn session, family photos, or milestone moments, these props help create the cozy, welcoming atmosphere I love—and I can’t wait to tell you about them!
1. The White Leather Futon: Cozy Comfort for Family Cuddles
One of my absolute favorite props is my new white leather futon. It's so simple but so versatile. The best part? It’s perfect for those bed-like, cozy family cuddle shots that make you feel like you're just hanging out together in a relaxed, natural way.
I love using this futon for:
Laying down shots with newborns or little ones.
Family snuggles—whether that’s a close-up of hands or big, full-frame embraces.
Comfy poses that capture real moments without feeling stiff or posed.
The white leather is also a great neutral base, allowing it to blend beautifully with different outfits, so nothing distracts from your family’s special moments.
2. Seamless Paper Backdrops: Especially My Camel Color
For a clean, professional look, nothing beats my seamless paper backdrops. I have a few different colors to choose from, but my favorite has to be the camel color. It’s a soft, warm, earthy tone that adds the perfect amount of depth to any shot without overpowering the subjects.
Whether you're in a formal family portrait, newborn session, or a milestone shoot, this backdrop helps keep the focus on you, while adding a touch of elegance and warmth to every image. Plus, it’s versatile—it works with both light and dark tones, so whatever you choose to wear will pop just the right way!
3. Hello Little Props & Wraps: Soft & Stretchy for Newborns
When it comes to newborn sessions, the Hello Happy wraps are a must-have. They’re super soft, stretchy, and comfortable, which makes them perfect for swaddling those sweet little bundles of joy.
These wraps not only keep babies cozy and calm during the session but also help me create those adorable wrapped poses that highlight their tiny features. The stretchy fabric allows me to mold it to each baby’s body, so every shot feels natural and snuggled in. Plus, the colors come in a range of beautiful neutrals that blend perfectly with my studio vibe.
How to Prepare for Your Session with These Props
Now, I know you might be wondering how to prepare for a session in my studio using these props. Here are a few tips to help you feel comfortable and confident:
For the futon: Wear something comfy and cozy—think soft sweaters, neutral colors, or even pajamas if you want to make the family cuddle session extra relaxed. Bring a few different outfits if you want to switch things up!
For the seamless paper backdrop: Keep your outfits simple and timeless. The camel backdrop works well with almost any color, but neutrals and soft tones tend to look especially stunning against it.
For newborn sessions: The Hello Little wraps do all the work for you! But if you want to bring your own swaddle or blanket, that’s totally fine too. Just make sure it’s something soft and gentle on baby’s skin.
I’ll take care of the rest by using these props to help capture authentic, beautiful moments that you’ll cherish forever.
Wrapping Up
These are just a few of the tools I rely on to make your session as fun, relaxing, and memorable as possible. Every session is unique, and I love how each prop adds something special to the final images. Whether we’re cuddling on the futon, posing with the perfect backdrop, or swaddling a newborn in a Hello Happy wrap, my goal is always to make sure you feel comfortable, relaxed, and ready to capture those authentic moments.
Stay tuned for next week’s post, where I’ll dive into what I've been up to these past few months!
Until then,
Tara
