Say HELLO to baby Werner! He's an absolute chunk of love and the newest member of the Mayes family! I had the sweetest time capturing this newborn session in my natural light photography studio right here in downtown Edwardsville, Illinois.


This family newborn photography session was extra special because I already adore this crew. Karly, Werner’s mama, is a beloved daycare teacher at the same center my boys attend (so yes, we’re already connected in the best ways!). She’s a gem, and it was so sweet to witness her soaking up all the newborn snuggles.


Luke, Dad, brought such a calm presence and was the MVP keeping big sister Marly busy while I focused on solo shots of baby Werner. Marly was full of personality—just like any two-year-old—and completely obsessed with showing off her baby brother. She made sure she earned her marshmallow, smarties, and sucker for being such a good little poser!


One of the best moments? When we said “Chase” (my son’s name—he’s in her daycare class!) instead of “cheese” to get her giggling. It worked like a charm!


While Marly definitely had a few “I’m over this” toddler moments (because let’s be real, toddlers run the show), she gave us the most heart-melting sibling moments. And Werner? He was a dream baby—so chill, loved being wrapped, and gave me the cutest chubby cheek and baby toe shots. There’s nothing better than capturing those tiny newborn details—the fingers curled around Dad’s hand, the peaceful sleepy poses, the connection between siblings.


This Edwardsville newborn session was filled with love, personality, and real-life chaos in the best way. I’m always honored to document these fleeting moments—especially for families I already hold close.
