Session Spotlight: Eric & Erica’s Sweet Madison County Courthouse Elopement

When your friend of over 10 years asks you to photograph her wedding day—you drop everything and grab your camera. Eric and Erica tied the knot with a beautiful, intimate elopement at the Madison County, IL Courthouse, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect day.


The sun was shining, the temperature hovered around 70 degrees, and love was in the air—literally. As we snapped photos outside the courthouse, cars honked, people shouted “congrats!” and it felt like the whole street was celebrating right along with them.


Erica looked like an actual Barbie in her stunning white satin mini dress. She radiated joy and beauty, and Eric? He couldn’t take his eyes off her. You could feel how proud he was to be marrying her. He knows he scored big—because anyone who knows Erica knows how lucky he is. Erica is fiercely loyal, endlessly kind, and the kind of friend who will show up at your door, flowers in hand or sneakers on for a mental health walk, no questions asked.


A small but meaningful detail I loved was the tiny charm hanging from Erica’s bouquet—a tribute to her beloved pup, Molly, who passed away. Erica is a huge dog lover, and this was such a tender way to honor Molly on such a big day.


Inside the courthouse, they exchanged vows they had written themselves—vows that were heartfelt, personal, and full of the kind of love that only grows stronger with time. While I couldn’t photograph the ceremony itself (I tried to sweet-talk the Sgt. on duty, believe me!), the memories live in our hearts and on camera phones. And trust me, the emotion of it all still shines through.


Eric and Erica, thank you for letting me be a part of your forever. It was an honor to stand beside you on such an important day.
